King of Change at Tweenhills
Shrewd judges buy King of Change yearlings
Some of the shrewdest bloodstock buyers in Europe have been lining up to acquire sons and daughter of Tweenhills stallion King of Change at the recent Goffs Orby and Tattersalls September Yearling Sales in Ireland.
The single offering by King of Change at the Orby Book 1 Sale was sold for €55,000 – 11 times his stud fee when the colt was conceived. The colt out of New Bay mare Worlds Apart was bought by bloodstock agent and owner of Brook Stud, Dwayne Woods.
That price for a King of Change yearling was beaten at the Orby Book 2 Sale when Hamish Macauley Bloodstock paid €60,000 for the filly out of Lope de Vega mare Valenciana.
Our own David Redvers teamed up with Johnny Murtagh to pay €54,000 for the King of Change filly out multiple winner Princess Gold (by Style Vendome) at the same sale.
Murtagh trained King of Change filly Onemoredance to go from an official rating of 58 to 99 in 2025, winning a Listed race last October before her 240,000gns sale to the US. Onemoredance had been bought by Murtagh and Linehan Bloodstock for €32,000 at Goffs Orby Book 2.
Close behind was the King of Change colt out of winning Famous Name mare Queen Mia. He was knocked down to one of Europe’s leading breeze-up consignors, Con Marnane of Bansha House Stables, for €52,000.
It was also significant that among the buyers of King of Change yearlings was MRC International, who have signed for two so far. They own the sire’s 2026 debut 2yo winner Maggie Walker, trained by Con Marnane’s brother David Marnane. Con's daughter Amy Marnane also bought a King of Change colt at Orby Book 2.
Gr.1-winning trainer Joseph O’Brien and Kevin Blake were also on the King of Change buyers list, picking up a colt at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale. O’Brien trained King of Change’s triple Listed-winning daughter Lady With The Lamp, who was shrewdly bought by Blake as a yearling for just €14,000.
Another leading trainer to pick of a King of Change was Gavin Cromwell, who signed for a colt with Kevin Ross Bloodstock. The Slattery family’s Meadowview Stables purchased the highest-priced King of Change at the Tattersalls September Yearling Sale Part II.
Gr.1-winnng trainer Jamie Osborne, Fearghal Hogan’s Apollo Bloodstock / Highfort and the Butler family’s Harristown Stables also bought King of Change colts.
