Sun City a seventh Stakes winner for Zoustar
Australian sire sensation Zoustar - who is currently at Tweenhills gearing up for the 2019 Northern Hemisphere breeding season - sired his seventh individual Stakes winner on Saturday when Sun City won the Gr. 3 Magic Millions B. J. McLachlan Stakes over 1200m at Doomben.
Trained by Tony McEvoy and ridden by James McDonald, wearing the Qatar Racing silks, Sun City pounced on the leaders in the home straight and won by a quarter of a length from Rome.
McEvoy said: "He made no mistakes today, pinged out, box-seated. James got him off at the right time, balanced him up and he went straight today. The other day he was just inexperienced and on the wrong leg.
"He'll go into the Magic Millions in a couple of weeks as good as he can be."
Last year's $2m Magic Millions was, of course, won by another of Zoustar's progeny, the filly Sunlight.
Sun City is out of the Flying Spur (by Danehill) mare Roulettes. He was a $525,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale buy for David Redvers and McEvoy Mitchell Racing.
Zoustar - along with Roaring Lion, Lightning Spear, Havana Gold, Hot Streak and Charm Spirit - will be parading at Tweenhills from Thursday 3 January. Please call 44 (0) 1452 700177 if you would like to come and view them.
