SUNLIGHT SHINES AGAIN FOR ZOUSTAR

Zoustar's daughter Sunlight took her record in races to two wins from three starts when making all in the Follow @aquisfarm on Twitter Handicap over 1100m at Gold Coast on Saturday, and she will now line up with a strong chance in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) back at the same track this coming Saturday.

Sunlight was most impressive in victory. She was again sent straight to the front by jockey Luke Currie and, after being pressured to some degree in the middle of the race, she strode clear at the 200m pole and hit the line with four and a half lengths to spare over her chief market rivals Terminology and Paquirri. Sunlight's performance was just as eye-catching on the clock, recording a time of 1:02.48.

Sunlight's trainer Tony McEvoy has reported that the flying two-year-old has come out of her race in top shape, and both trainer and jockey believe she has what it takes to emulate Houtzen who won the same prep race before following up in the 2YO Classic 12 months ago.

Currie said: "(Saturday's) run will bring her up fitness-wise and I suppose they need to keep improving these two-year-olds -- they need to keep taking the next step.

"I have watched the replays of the other two favourites [for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, Ef Troop and the unbeaten Jonker] and I think she is up to those.

"Two-year-olds can throw up a wildcard every now and then but that's racing."

Sunlight's owners include Tweenhills' Bloodstock Manager Hannah Wall, who will be at Gold Coast to cheer on the filly on Saturday. We wish all concerned - including the filly's breeder Widden Stud (where Zoustar stood the 2017 breeding season at $44,000) - the best of luck.
