Sunlight's sister Sisstar wins Gr.3

Zoustar registered his 13th individual Group winner when three-year-old Sisstar - a full sister to triple Gr.1 winner Sunlight - won the Gr.3 Red Roses Stakes at Flemington on Thursday.

After finishing fourth in a Gr.3 on her debut last November and third in a Listed race in April, Sisstar broke her maiden in September and followed up at Flemington later that month. After ticking over with another 'win' in a barrier trial in October, Sisstar extended her winning run in the Network 10 Red Roses over 1100m.

She lined up as $9.50 shot against 14 rivals and showed she trademark early speed and good attitude associated with her sire Zoustar's progeny as she hit the line narrowly in front of Niccovi. Like her sister, Sisstar is trained by Tony and Calvin McEvoy and she also carries the same colours of er all female ownership group.

She was ridden on this occasion by South African Barend Vorster who also rode Sunlight when she won the Gr.1 Newmarket Handicap.

Sisstar was bred and sold by our friends at Widden Stud, knocked down to David Redvers Bloodstock and McEvoy Mitchell Racing for $600,000 at the 2018 Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
