The 20th individual winner for Havana Gold

The Qatar Racing-owned Raid became the 20th individual winner for Havana Gold when making a winning debut at Doncaster on Saturday.

Raid made his eagerly anticipated debut in division one of the Betfred Mobile Cock o' The North Maiden over six furlongs on Doncaster's November Handicap card and didn't disappoint, winning by two and a quarter lengths.

Raid was bought for £135,000 by David Redvers in the spring and his first racecourse start was later than intended, as his trainer David Simcock explained after the race: "He was bought here at Doncaster at the breeze-ups and was ready to go in April, but it didn't work out like that. He had sore shins and one thing and another. It was just nice to get a run into him."

Raid came from the rear on the stands' side of the field and, under Oisin Murphy, won in the style of an exciting colt who'll have no problem with seven furlongs. He is out of Mark of Esteem mare Remarkable Story, which makes him a half-brother to four winners, including top all-weather performer Grendisar.

It was also a successful weekend for Harbour Watch with winners on either side of the globe. First up was Australian three-year-old Emaan who made her second start a winning one in a five-and-a-half-furlong maiden at Geelong. She had been off for 20 weeks prior to her victory so is bound to improve again.

The Keith Dalgleish-trained three-year-old also returned from a break What's The Story when making a mockery of his opening handicap mark in a seven-furlong handicap at Doncaster on Saturday. He's won the last two of his five starts (runner-up other outings) and can climb higher still in 2018 if getting a clear run at things.
