Third winner for Kameko as Rajeko strikes

Tweenhills sire Kameko sired his third debut 2yo winner in 5 days when Rajeko won the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes over 6f at Windsor on Monday evening, adding to the victories of Wimbledon Hawkeye and Del Ray.

Rajeko’s sales price rose significantly every time he’s gone through the ring, from foal to yearling to breezer, changing hands privately for £79,000 when purchased by Nick Bell at the Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale in April.

Under the tutelage of Michael Bell and ridden by Oisin Murphy, Rajeko overcame considerable inexperience to make a winning debut at Windsor, strong in the finish to beat Cayman Tai – who’d finished second on his previous start – by a neck.

Rajeko is out of Archipenko mare Rajar, who won 3 times over 6f as a 2yo in 2016. She also finished third in a Listed sprint in France later that year and third in another Listed sprint at Chester in 2018.

In a Stable Tour with Sporting Life last Wednesday, Michael Bell had said of Rajeko “I hope he might have enough ability to make it to Royal Ascot,” so hopefully he can represent Kameko in the Gr.2 Coventry Stakes

Congratulations to all connections of Kameko’s winners so far - he's certainly a sire on fire!
