Track double for Zoustar – inc. smart 2yo debut winner
Zoustar registered a double at Ladbrokes Park Hillside (Sandown) on Wednesday, including a very impressive juvenile colt success.
Starry Legend was vying for favouritism with Feudal Empire for his debut in the IVE > Print Plate over 1000m but proved in a class of his own as he won by three and three quarter lengths under Michael Dee.
“This is oh so impressive, we may have unearthed a real nice one,” said the commentator as Starry Legend hit the line, carrying the white and red colours of Hong Kong owner Boniface Ho Ka-kui’s Legend Racing Pty Ltd. The chestnut is trained by John Sadler in Caulfield.
“It was amazing really. His gate speed, it was almost like the others had missed the start. He’s a very promising horse,” said Sadler.
Starry Legend was a $500,000 yearling purchase from Segenhoe Stud and hails from the family of European champion three-year-old and Gr.1 Oaks winner Intrepidity. Starry Legend is out of a mare by Reset (by Zabeel).
The other Zoustar winner on the card was three-year-old gelding Bellinger who gained due reward for several solid efforts. He also won his race – a 1500m plate – with plenty in hand, scoring by three and three quarter lengths under Damian Lane for trainers Tom Dabernig and Ben Hayes.
Bellinger carries familiar colours too, those of Sun Bloodstock Pty Ltd, and he’s out of a mare by More Than Ready.
