Tweenhills-bred Spinning Lizzie returns with bang
3yo Kameko filly Spinning Lizzie returned from 7 months off to make a winning seasonal reappearance in a Class 2 Fillies’ Conditions Stakes at Kempton last Saturday.
Spinning Lizzie had made a winning 2yo debut at Ripon last May before chancing her luck in the Gr.3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The daughter of Kameko then took a step forward when narrowly beaten off a mark of 83 in a competitive nursery at Goodwood, upped to 7f.
First-time cheekpieces lit her up in the Gr.3 Prestige Fillies’ Stakes at the track in August but, with headgear removed, she bounced back to winning ways at Kempton.
Spinning Lizzie raced in rear at the Sunbury track and had to wait for a gap 2f out, but she showed a smart turn of foot to collar Ellusive Butterfly near the line.
Spinning Lizzie clearly enjoyed the step up to 1m and she could be an ideal candidate for the Sandringham, or connections could have a return to Stakes company in mind.
She’s trained by Dr Richard Newland and Jamie Insole and owned by one of their main patrons, Chris Stedman.
Spinning Lizzie was born, raised and grazed at Tweenhills for the Cockney Dancer Partnership. She was sold as a foal by Tweenhills to JP Bloodstock for 40,000gn at Tattersalls December.
Cockney Dancer remains at Tweenhills and is the dam of six winners, including Lambeth Walk who was Stakes-placed and is herself the dam of Group performer Excellent Believe and unbeaten 3yo Soul Love.
