Two million dollar Zoustar colts at Inglis

The Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale (April 6 & 7) saw two Zoustar colts sell for seven figures, including one from Widden Stud who stand the international sire sensation in Australia. Zoustar is currently in his third Northern Hemisphere breeding season at Tweenhills and will have his first runners here in 2022.

Zoustar's standing in Australasian racing and breeding was bolstered once again this week when two of his yearling colts sold for huge sums.

The most expensive was Lot 377 (pictured) who sold for A$1,250,000. He is out of Stakes-winning sprinter Lady Jivago (won the Inglis 2yo Classic Stakes) and was sold by Widden to Mornington trainer Matt Laurie.

Interestingly, Lady Jivago is by Beneteau, a son of Redoute's Choice; also by Redoute's Choice is Zoustar's dam Zouzou. This colt is also the family of leading sire Not A Single Doubt.

The other Zoustar colt to break the seven-figure benchmark was Lot 306 who changed hands for A$1,150,000. He was consigned by Segenhoe Stud and bought by a partnership made up of Moody Racing / Rosemont Victorian Alliance / Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA) / and our own David Redvers Bloodstock.

This colt is also out of a Stakes-winning sprinter (the aptly-named Fireworks) who is by a son of Redoute's Choice (in this case Snitzel).

Another high-profile Zoustar runner with Redoute's Choice close up on the dam's side - in fact he's the sire of her dam - is dual Gr.2 winner Haut Brion Her.

The Inglis Easter Yearling Sale also saw progeny of Zoustar sell for A$900,000, A$600,000, A$500,000 (x3), A$450,000 etc.
