Zou's star continues to rise

Another week and another set of sparkling results for Zoustar - who will again shuttle from Australia to Tweenhills just before Christmas to stand the 2020 breeding season in Gloucestershire.

Zoustar was responsible for the second and third, Sunlight and Mizzy, in the $7.5million Golden Eagle and Sisstar (a full sister to Sunlight) who won the Gr.3 Network 10 Red Roses Stakes at Flemington.

He is currently the equal leading sire of individual stakes winners in Australia with six, all of which are Group winners. They are the aforementioned Sunlight, Mizzy and Sisstar, as well as Haut Brion Her, Madam Roude and Zoutori.

Importantly, all six Stakes winners were winners in the major Australian racing jurisdictions of Sydney and Melbourne in carnival times. Zoustar again is leading Third Season Sire and also sixth in the general Sires table with $5.5 million is earnings from just 100 runners this season.

The 2019 book of mares Zoustar has covered to date in Australia includes the recently retired Gr.1 winners Sheidel, Commanding Jewel, Catchy, Sopressa and Spright, as well as the dams of Gr.1-winning sprinters Sunlight, Merchant Navy, Criterion, Written By, Shamexpress, Manuel, Extreme Choice and this year’s $14m Everest winner Yes Yes Yes.

Zoustar has now covered the majority of his 180 mares booked (plus most of the Free returns) and will continue to serve mares until his departure to Britain on December 16th.

Widden Stud reports his condition and fertility are good and he is on track for a fertility rate around 90% for the season.

Zoustar's fee at Tweenhills for 2020 has been announced at £30,000 (he stands at the equivalent of £82,000 at Widden) and is book will be limited to 125 mares. Please contact us early if you'd like to discuss a nomination for your mare.
