Zoustar 2yo remains unbeaten

Zoustar’s two-year-old son Starry Legend made it two wins from two starts with an impressive victory in the $250,000 VOBIS Gold Rush (1000m) at Bendigo on Saturday. He looks yet another very exciting prospect for his sire.

Carrying the increasingly familiar colours of Hong Kong-based owner Boniface Ho Ka Kui’s Legend Racing, Starry Legend maintained his unbeaten status a month on from his facile debut.

Starry Legend is trained by John Sadler and was again ridden by Michael Dee as he lined up as $2.10 favourite for the 14-runner Gold Rush.

He led all the way for to win by a length and a quarter from dominant Bendigo winner Frostin’ and has now won over $210,000 for his connections.

“He’s a very smart horse with plenty of upside,” said Dee.

“He learned a lot from his first start, but he just wanted to overdo it a bit today in the first half of the race. He just needs to learn to relax a bit more, but he’s a horse on the up.”

Starry Legend was a $500,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Segenhoe draft for his trainer. He was bred by Phil Wilton and is from the family of Intrepidity, a triple Gr.1 winner and the Champion European Three-Year-Old Filly of 1993.
