Zoustar and Charm Spirit arrive at Tweenhills

Zoustar and Charm Spirit both arrived at Tweenhills from the Southern Hemipshere on Thursday night.

Record breaking first season sire Zoustar, part-owned by Qatar Racing, safely arrived in the UK yesterday evening. The Champion First Season Sire in Australia will stand at Tweenhills and join a highly exciting Qatar Racing stallion roster for the 2019 breeding season.

The highest earning Australasian first season sire in history, with total earnings to date of over AUD$5.5 million, Zoustar’s progeny continue to make racing headlines including a 1-2-3 in this year’s Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, while his unbeaten son Zoustyle also won a stakes race at the weekend - bringing Zoustar’s tally of individual stakes winners from his first crop to six.

The exciting young stallion travelled over 11,000 miles from Widden Stud in New South Wales, flying from Melbourne to Heathrow, before journeying on to his new Northern Hemisphere home in Gloucestershire with no faults.

Paul Turu - Stallion Groom at Widden Stud - was with Zoustar throughout:

"The journey started on Monday from Widden Stud in Australia. We stayed a day in Melbourne just to rest from the truck drive. We have been in the air for the last 36 hours, so from door-to-door it will be roughly three and a half days by the time he gets to Tweenhills.

He has taken it very well. He is very laidback - he is a quiet horse to work with.

Credit to all the guys at Widden who have kept him in such good shape throughout the season and best of luck to all the guys in Tweenhills for the upcoming breeding season.”

David Redvers, Qatar Racing Manager, added:

“It is extraordinary to see a horse who has travelled for as long as he has look as fresh and well as he does. He has hardly turned a hair - he looks amazing and is moving well this morning.”

Zoustar travelled over with another Qatar Racing stallion, one of this year’s leading first season sires, Charm Spirit.

“Charm Spirit also travelled over well - all credit to the team at IRT for bringing them over in such good shape.”

Both Zoustar and Charm Spirit - along with Roaring Lion, Lightning Spear, Havana Gold and Hot Streak - will be parading at Tweenhills from Thursday 3 January. Please call 44 (0) 1452 700177 if you would like to come and view them.
