Zoustar colt out of dual Gr.1 winner wins

Zoustar’s 3yo son Scientist won a 1400m maiden handicap at Warwick Farm on Wednesday, giving his dual Gr.1-winning dam Global Glamour a first winner. Zoustar doubled up on the card when Zou de Moon won a 1600m handicap.

Scientist had won both his barrier trials in July and, after finishing third at Canterbury on debut, the son of Zoustar showed plenty of improvement to beat 11 rivals at Warwick Farm.

Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Scientist led all the way under Time Clark to score by almost a length from Redoute’s Choice colt Rediener.

Scientist holds an entry for the Gr.1 I MRC Caulfield Guineas.

One of his trainers, Bott, said: “It was a fantastic effort and he was really tough.

“He rolled forward from that outside draw and showed good speed to take it up and the pressure came on quite early, so full credit to the horse as he stuck on very well.

“I’m not sure how much farther we will push on this campaign, but he’s going to be a nice horse for us in the autumn. We’ll see how he pulls up.”

Scientist is owned by Coolmore, Westerberg, Mr J Poulin, Wynaus and Mr G Harvey. He was bought for A$600,000 and is the first foal of former outstanding Star Witness filly Global Glamour, winner of the Gr.1 ATC Flight Stakes and Gr.1 MRC Thousand Guineas for the Waterhouse Bott partnership.
