Zoustar daughter wins competitive 2yo Group 3

Zoustar’s 2yo daughter Lezoo confirmed herself high class when winning the Gr.3 Princess Margaret Stakes on King George Day at Ascot on Saturday.

After winning her first two starts, including the Listed Empress Stakes, Lezoo had been hampered by the winner when second to Mawj in the Gr.2 Duchess of Cambridge Stakes.

Lezoo lined up as 6/5 favourite for the 9-runner Gr.3 Princess Margaret Keeneland Stakes over 6f at Ascot and won by a cosy length from the previously unbeaten Kinta, with the pair two and a half lengths clear of Breege in third.

Lezoo travelled well on the wing of the field under Frankie Dettori and swept to the front 1.5f out. She showed an excellent attitude to keep her nearest pursuer at bay.

The Gr.2 Lowther Stakes at York on August 18 looks the next obvious port of call and all roads presumably lead to the Gr.1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on September 24.

Lezoo is trained by Ralph Beckett for owners Marc Chan and Andrew Rosen.

Lezoo was bred by Andrew Black’s Chasemore Farm out of 2yo Gr.3 winner Roger Sez (by Red Clubs, a son of Red Ransom). She was sold as a yearling to Hamish Macauley and sold again by Tally Ho Stud at the Arqana May Breeze-Up Sale to Atlas Bloodstock for €110,000.
