ZOUSTAR'S FIRST WINNER, SUNLIGHT IS MAGIC MILLIONS BOUND!

Zoustar - part owned by Qatar Racing - registered his first winner as a stallion when his daughter Sunlight made all in the Early Bird Magic Millions Handicap over 900m on the Gold Coast on December 23.

Sunlight clocked 50.42secs in her four-length demolition, and the win booked her place in the $2.5 million Magic Millions Classic on January 13. She is now priced at $8 behind $3.50 favourite Jonker for that race.

Sunlight's trainer Tony McEvoy indicated the two-year-old - who had won a barrier trial earlier in December - would run again over 1100m on January 6, a week before the Magic Millions Classic.

McEvoy said: "She's a smart filly but we needed more money to get into the race and now we've got it. It is great to be in Queensland with a smart filly like this one."

Sunlight is the third winner out of Charge Forward mare Solar Charged, a speedy Gr. 3 winner herself. A $300,000 Magic Millions purchase from Widden Stud - where Zoustar has spent half his time as a stallion (he alternates between Widden and Woodside Park Stud) - Sunlight runs for a ladies syndicate which includes Tweenhills' own Hannah Wall.

Widden Stud will offer a full sister to Sunlight as Lot 330 at the 2018 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
