Longines World’s Best Racehorse: Roaring Lion top 3-year-old

Roaring Lion has been rated the best three-year-old in the world in 2018 in the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings.

Roaring Lion was given a rating of 127 for his season which included four Gr. 1 wins, culminating in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on Champions Day at Ascot.

Roaring Lion was rated 2 lb higher than US Triple Crown winner Justify, and 3 lb ahead of multiple Japanese Gr. 1 winner Almond Eye, though obviously she is a filly and would therefore have received an allowance in a mythical racecourse meeting with Roaring Lion – maybe she’ll have a date with him in the breeding shed one day!

The only horse in Britain rated higher than Roaring Lion was his stablemate at the time, Cracksman, who was a 4-year-old when winning his second Champion Stakes on the same Ascot card. Unsurprisingly, the best female in the world was Winx, with another superstar mare and another former stable-companion of Roaring Lion, Enable, second in that category.

It’s such a privilege to be able to stand a world champion at Tweenhills; we thank everyone for their support and cannot wait for Roaring Lion – and our other five stallions – to cover mares this breeding season.
