Gr.1 mare Wekeela has cracking Roaring Lion colt

Dual Gr.3 winner and multiple Gr.1-placed mare Wekeela gave birth to a Roaring Lion colt last night.

Wekeela won the Gr.3 Prix Chloe at Chantilly in 2015 when trained by Jean-Claude Rouget in France and the Gr.3 Matchmaker Stakes in 2017 when trained by Chad Brown in the United States. She also finished in the frame in the Prix de l'Opera, Jenny Wiley Stakes and Gamely Stakes, all Gr.1s.

After her racing career had finished she was purchased for 1.8m guineas at the 2017 Tattersalls December Mare Sale by David Redvers on behalf of Qatar Racing.

Wekeela's first foal born in 2019 was a chesnut Dubawi colt and her bay Roaring Lion colt weighed in at a healthy 53kg.

We also had another stunning Roaring Lion foal arrive overnight, a filly out of Gr.1 Premio Lydia Tesio heroine Quiza Quiza Quiza. Other Lion cubs born recently were colts out of Gr.2 May Hill Stakes winner Rich Legacy and $1.2m Galileo mare Glories.
