Zoustar colt sells for AU$3m to Coolmore

The full brother to three-time Gr.1-winning champion Sunlight and Gr.3 winner Sisstar sold for AU$3m at the 2022 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale on Wednesday, sweeping past the sale’s previous highest-priced lot which was a son of Snitzel at AU$2.25m.

The Zoustar colt also became the most expensive yearling sold in Australiasia since 2013 when AU$5m was paid for a brother to Black Caviar.

Sold by Widden Stud, the stunning bay son of Zoustar and Solar Charged was knocked down to Coolmore’s Tom Magnier, who had also purchased a son of Zoustar and Sexy Eyes for AU$1.25m less than 20 lots earlier.

A third son of Zoustar made six figures at the sale as the colt out of One More Honey was knocked down for AU$1m to Hong Kong Jockey Club. No less than five other Zoustars have made over AU$900,000 at the time of writing, including three fillies.

Solar Charged in now safely back in foal to Zoustar.

Zoustar is oversubscribed again standing his fourth Northern Hemisphere breeding season at Tweenhills. His first 2yo runner in Europe has finished placed and his most expensive European yearling, Alexis Zorba, makes his debut at Dundalk on Friday.
