Zoustar son wins another Stakes race in Hong Kong

Zoustar’s classy son Healthy Happy recorded a second Stakes victory in Hong Kong on New Year’s Day. Zoustar himself is at Tweenhills preparing for his fourth season covering Northern Hemisphere mares.

Australian-bred five-year-old Healthy Happy made an impressive return in the Gr. 3 The Chinese Club Challenge Cup over 1400m at Sha Tin for trainer Frankie Lor and jockey Alexis Badel.

Healthy Happy had a couple of issues in 2021 and his latest Stakes victory was a deserved reward for Lor choosing to not rush him toward the Gr.1 Hong Kong Mile in December.

Lor told HK Racing: “In the Mile we would’ve needed to face Golden Sixty, so I decided to give him one more trial and set him for this race.

“Unfortunately at the end of August, in his box, he nearly pulled his foot out and he needed a month and a half to heal, so I need to say thank you to the vet and the farrier. From there I trialled him three times and he improved every time so to get the win today is a great result.”

Healthy Happy was sold by Woodside Park to James Harron Bloodstock for AU$375,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Healthy Happy – among 25 Stakes winners for Zoustar – is out of a mare by Lonhro (by Octagonal) and related to Gr. 1-winning sprinter Instant Celebrity.
