Sixth win of year for Lightning Spear 3yo
Atlantic Gamble again flew the flag for Lightning Spear as a stallion when winning his sixth handicap of the year on Saturday.
Lightning Spear’s son Atlantic Gamble has been extremely progressive this season, completing a 4-timer at Kempton in July and getting back in the winning groove of late.
He recorded his 3rd win at Kempton in August and followed up in an 8-runner 1 handicap at Newbury over the weekend. Oisin Murphy became the 4th different jockey to win on him.
Atlantic Gamble won off a mark of 81, 25 lb higher than when he began his winning spree. He has won several times on the AW and on testing ground. He is trained by William Knight for owners Badger's Set.
It’s remarkable that Atlantic Gamble has stood so much racing already given he’s out of unraced Primo Valentino mare One Pixel. Lightning Spear did 27 times across 6 seasons himself, including in 19 Gr.1s. Atlantic Gamble was bred by Peter Winkworth. Congratulations to all involved!
